It was an April morning

Happy April!

It’s the time of year in MS when we spend every Wednesday in the closet. Which is an upgrade from the many nights as a child that I slept in the bathtub. I always had to sit under the faucet and I would invariably bang my head at least once every time. And if you don’t have the joy of living in the Southern US, we do this because of tornados. And in MS the water table is too high for basements, so near plumbing is the safest place to be.

Today my list has turned into mostly a YouTube list of videos to watch. I’ve put them into sections again for ease.

May you enjoy and have a wonderful first weekend of April!

History

o   Villa di Poppaea: the stunning palatial home of ancient Roman nobility - YouTube. The title of the video says it all, this is a beautiful home that could easily be used today. The artwork is beautiful and brightly colored and the floor tiling is amazing.

o   Egypt's 'most exciting' archaeological discovery in decades - BBC REEL - YouTube, I cannot begin to convey my excitement over the finding of Aten. The city has been found under the sand much as it was left over 2,000 years ago, with tools, dolls, bakeries, and dried meat. The city was the largest administrative and industrial settlement of its time, it dates to around 1386–1353 BC during the reign of Amenhotep III.

Music

o   Dolly Parton - Jolene (from Dolly & Friends: The Making of A Soundtrack) - YouTube. I think that I prefer her mature voice, it has a bit of a scratch to it that is lovely.

o   Dolly Parton - Jolene (Destructo Remix - Official Music Video) - YouTube, one word: shuffling.

o   Here Comes The Hotstepper With Lyrics - YouTube, I mean, do I need to explain? It instantly puts me in a better mood.

o   EPICA - Cry For The Moon - YouTube, hands down my favorite Epica song. Symphonic metal is my favorite metal, there is such a richness to it.

Entertaining

o   足助の町並みと香嵐渓 : Walking Around Asuke Townscape and Kōrankei(Aichi, Japan) - YouTube, this is an absolutely beautiful town in Japan, the castle dates back to the 16th century.

o   Man Loses Temper with Printer - YouTube, if you have never seriously considered doing this to an office printer…you’ve probably never worked in an office.

Animal Cams (these are some really fun LIVE bird cameras from around the US and New Zealand)

o   Big Bear Bald Eagle Live Nest Cam - YouTube

o   LIVE Barn Owl Florida Cam 1| The Charter Group of Wildlife Ecology| University of Florida - YouTube

o   LIVE Great Horned Owls Nesting Near Savannah, GA | Cam 1 PTZ | Cornell Lab & Skidaway Audubon - YouTube

o   Live Royal Albatross Cam - #RoyalCam - New Zealand Dept. of Conservation | Cornell Lab - YouTube

Cool Ideas

o   Misfits Market | Online Grocery Service, “Misfits Market is the online value grocer dedicated to making affordable, high-quality food more accessible while helping break the cycle of food waste.” Such a great idea!

o   Blackwing - Pencils and tools for a balanced life (blackwing602.com). Hands down one of the top pencils. Their new Coffeehouse pencil is beautiful, I really enjoy their “themed” pencils.

“The spirit of enjoyment and desire,
And hopes and wishes, from all living things
Went circling, like a multitude of sounds.”
